Beaches

Probably the one thing that Sardinia is most renowned for is its beaches. Unsurprisingly, as they are generally stunning and on a par with the best in the world. Because of its geographic location and the fact that the waters around Sardinia shelve off very quickly the water is generally crystal clear and fantastic for all water-sports  In summer the water temperature is pleasant and one can easily swim for an hour or so without feeling too cold. Finagliosu is well placed within easy reach of local beaches as little as five minutes in the car but also to visit those near Stintino and Capo Caccia/Alghero both an easy short drive away.

Some of the more remote beaches require a  short walk down from the carpark but some other coves you can park right on the headland and 10 meters from the sea.

Probably the most famous beach in the area is La Pelosa in Stintino which is regularly voted in the top three beaches in Italy on Trip Advisor. The rating is well justified.
Local Towns

The village of Palmadula is about a five minute drive away and has two small supermarkets, chemist, doctor, pizza parlour, trattoria, and a small shopping precinct. There are large shopping precincts and hypermarkets in Porto Torres, Alghero and Sassari.

Stintino has local shops and is chic with many restaurants on the quay and around the quaint harbours. Alghero is more cosmopolitan and has a plethora of eateries, fantastic old town complete with walls. Sassari is the capital of north Sardinia and is a large city with everything that you might expect. The area has many historical sites ranging from the Nuragic civilisation (which gives Nurra its name), through Romans, Spanish Invaders and even the Savoyard Dukes.
